After diving into the marijuana brand business Willie Nelson has decided to create new pipes and and bongs for marijuana smokers. It appears that Nelson is partnering up with investors so he can continue to share his love of cannabis with others.
Willie Nelson’s custom marijuana brand has taken one large step towards reaching the bongs and pipes of pot-loving Americans.
According to Tuatara Capital, an investor group, they have partnered with Willie’s Reserve, Nelson’s premium cannabis lifestyle brand, to finance the upcoming venture.
This is good news for those who can’t wait to smoke something anointed by the counterculture country legend.
“There is so much innovation happening in the cannabis space, and we are excited about the future prospects of the industry. We see incredible potential to support the industry in its growth and evolution. It’s all happening at unprecedented speed,” said Mark Zittman, chairman of Tuatara Capital said in a release on Monday.
With marijuana laws changing little by little across the United States, Tuatara is likely to see decent returns in the future. The group was formed last year to serve as a specialized alternative investment manager for the blossoming legal cannabis industry.
Nelson, meanwhile, was hopeful as always on the prospects of legal weed across the land.
“I hear stories from people across the country about how the end of marijuana prohibition is improving their lives. Legal marijuana makes sense. Good business will prove it can work in America,” said Nelson in the Tuatara release.
Back in April, Nelson officially announced Willie’s Reserve to the public after weeks of rumor.
The brand will be grown, distributed and sold in Colorado and Washington. It will become available in other markets when state regulations allow it to be sold.
He told Rolling Stone magazine that same week that he would have a final say on what is or isn’t sold.
“I will make sure it’s good or it won’t be on sale,” the singer told the music mag. “There should be a menu just like in a restaurant because there’s so many different kinds of pot that do many different things. It’s a good idea to have everything labeled for what it does, what it don’t do [and] how powerful it is.”
No word on what sort of prices Willie’s Reserve will fetch but it’s likely to be a sought-after product when it hits legal distributors sometime in 2016.
For what it’s worth there are already marijuana strains (likely) named after Nelson, including “Williejuana,” “Willie’s Wonder,” and simply “Willie Nelson.”
