The weekend is finally upon us and to help celebrate, we’ve put together a couple of recipes for cannabis cocktails to get it started off on the right foot!
Weed Infused Whiskey:
A 750ml bottle of your choice of bourbon whiskey
8 grams of your preferred cannabis strain
First, you’ll want to decarb 8 grams of the weed that you will be using. You can pretty much use any strain you’d like but always keep in mind the types of effects it usually produces and how they may mix with the effects of alcohol. While you can use raw bud and skip decarbing the weed, the end result will not have the psychoactive effects that you are after.
Next, pour the bottle of your favorite whiskey into a one-liter or larger mason jar then begin to slowly mix in the ground up bud. You will want to make sure that it is all of the bud is fully submerged in the alcohol as any of it floating on the surface could potentially introduce molds into your cannabis concoction. Then, put the jar in a paper bag and leave it near a windowsill for about 2 to 3 days, making sure to shake the mix gently every 12 hours or so.
Once the time is up and the ingredients have had a chance to get to know each other, strain the liquid through a cheesecloth and funnel into another container. This may not remove all of the solid matter in one shot so repeat straining as often as necessary to completely eliminate the remaining solids. Once all of the debris has been removed, pour yourself a drink and enjoy!
Weed Infused Gin & Marijuana Martini:
Weed Infused Gin-
12 grams of your preferred cannabis strain
750ml bottle of your gin of choice
Soak your weed of choice in the alcohol for a period of days, the longer the better (4 weeks maximum). Grind your weed as finely as you can and place it in your steeping jar, then fill the jar with alcohol (again, making sure that none of it is still floating on the surface).
Close the jar and place in a cool, dark place for at least five days but up to a few weeks for better results making sure that you shake the bottle every day. Once once the time is up, remove the bottle from storage, heat the saucepan with water to a boil and then turn off the heat. Next, place your steeping jar in the hot water for about 30 minutes ensuring that the water does not cover the top of the jar. Once the liquid has cooled, strain the weed out using the cheesecloth and you’re done!
2 ounces of your weed infused gin
1 cap of dry vermouth
Combine the weed infused gin, one cap of the dry vermouth, and ice. Stir then strain into a chilled martini glass, adding a garnish of your choice.
