Tips For Enjoying Marijuana During Spring Break In Aspen!

Getting High In A Town Among The Clouds

“Some place warm, a place where the beer flows like wine, where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I’m talking about a little place called Aspen.”-Lloyd Christmas-

Aspen, a beautiful city set up on high in the mountains of Colorado, is widely regarded as a haven for well to do winter sports enthusiasts. Once home to musician John Denver (who loved it so much that he wrote two songs about it after moving there) and eccentric journalist Hunter S. Thompson, it has also has had a reputation for its unique drug culture. In more recent years it has also become a popular destination for spring breakers and with marijuana legalization having been passed by the state back in 2014, even more so.

Speaking from experience, this town has a little bit of everything for everybody and plenty to do aside from skiing or snowboarding. It has excellent food and drink, high end shopping, tons of historic sites to visit, and most are within walking distance! To add to its already impressive resume, there are some excellent marijuana dispensaries to choose from. I had one of my best shopping experiences at one of the larger dispensaries there and can’t wait to go back one day. If your are planning a trip to visit there sometime soon, check out the below tips that will help make sure you end up having a good time, and stay out of any potential trouble!

Be sure to follow the link below for some additional marijuana do’s and don’ts while enjoying your stay in this awesome town!

Don’t: Be intimidated when walking into a dispensary

For newbies, it’s a lot to take in and hard to know where to even start. You’re not alone–especially in a resort town. Do know before you go to come with cash (some shops accept debit/credit cards), that the legal purchase limit is up to an ounce (28g) per day for out-of-state residents and 21+ IDs are required upon entry (and again at the counter). The only acceptable form of ID for foreign residents is a valid passport from your home country.

Do: Ask your friendly budtender for help

We’re four years into this and still, smoking anywhere in public is illegal. The state is making strides though, with Denver regulators approving the nation’s first social marijuana-use license. Already open for business, we hope to see a similar concept to “The Coffee Joint” in Aspen, and soon. Also worth noting (but not strictly enforced), Aspen-Snowmass ski areas occupy federal land, where possession of marijuana is punishable by up to six months in jail and a $5,000 fine.
