Some awesome news for Tenacious D fans everywhere! The group’s lead singer, comedian and actor Jack Black, announced to crowds at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Music Festival that a ‘Pick Of Destiny‘ sequel will be coming out soon to theaters near you.
The dynamic duo will reprise their roles from their 2006 musical fantasy comedy film which unfortunately ended up being a box office bomb but was received positively by many of the band’s long-time fans. Cannabis enthusiasts tend to be big fans of Jack Black’s humor and Tenacious D music.
Jack Black and Kyle Gass, best known as the comedy rock duo Tenacious D, have been making novelty songs about heavy metal, the golden child and their own genitals since the early 90s. Jack Black became a huge Hollywood star in the early 2000s after a string of hits like Shallow Hal, Orange County and, biggest of all, School of Rock.
When Black became famous, it only made sense that his comedy rock duo would be close behind. Early luminaries like Spike Jonze and Liam Lynch directed the music videos for songs ‘Tribute’ and ‘Wonderboy.’ The 2006 film The Pick of Destiny picked up the band’s mythos, seeking out rock dominance through heaven and hell with cameos from comedians and rock stars including Dave Grohl, Ronnie James Dio, Ben Stiller, Meatloaf and Neil Hamburger.
Cannabis news like this may gain even more attention than usual considering the surge in popularity of marijuana. It is no longer a world of just stoners and potheads indulging in cannabis. Professionals, veterans and baby boomers all have found reasons to partake in cannabis consumption. We will have to see if Jack Black’s humor can permeate the new demographics enjoying cannabis these days. If you’re a fan be sure to stay tuned for more info!
