Nevada May Be The 5th State To Legalize Recreational Marijuana

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) – Nevada could soon become the 5th state to legalize recreational marijuana, after the state was named one of the most likely to legalize recreational marijuana in 2016.

One year from now, local voters will take to the polls to cast their votes.

Robert Calkin is the CEO of Cannibus Career Institute, and has over 30 years experience in the marijuana industry.  He thinks Nevada could be the next state to legalize marijuana recreationally.

“Nevada has always been an expert in creating businesses that were difficult in creating business models for,” says Calkin.

The 2016 recreational marijuana initiative is already on the ballot, meaning Nevada residents will vote on it one year from now.

“This is something that is not only helpful in a medicinal way, but it’s also something that people enjoy doing recreationally,” says Calkin.

Local medical marijuana dispensaries say medical marijuana is a different business than recreational marijuana, but they still hope to see voters vote in favor of the initiative because of the opportunities for growth.

“Tourism is Las Vegas’ main source, so I think it would increase our business just like it does the bars and the casinos,” says Andre Rhodes, the owner of Nevada Wellness Center.

If legalized, it could allow up to one ounce to be sold to adults, and the tax revenue generated could go towards education.
