Las Vegas Head Shops Now Open!

As of this past Wednesday, the Las Vegas city council has approved the legal sale of bongs, bowls, rigs, and other assorted paraphernalia to adults over the age of 21 for official use with weed. In order to be compliant, the head shops will need to acquire a license from the city, with any violations resulting in a fine of “not more than $1,000 or by imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or by any combination of such fine and imprisonment.” Why do you think it took so long for head shops to be approved after the legalization of recreational weed in Vegas?

“Smoke shops” or “Head shops,” you can call them what you like, but paraphernalia proprietors in the Las Vegas Valley can now legally sell bongs, oil rigs, and assorted high-end glassware to adults over the age of 21 for the purpose of consuming marijuana.

On Wednesday, the Las Vegas City Council gave their blessing to an ordinance that completes the circle of 420-life. Now, everything you need to enjoy Nevada’s newest recreational activity – unwinding with legal marijuana – is available in the Entertainment Capital of the World.

In order to be legal and compliant within the city limits, Las Vegas smoke shops will need to obtain a business license from the city. Per the paraphernalia ordinance, a violation will be punished by a fine of “not more than $1,000 or by imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or by any combination of such fine and imprisonment.”

Las Vegas tobacco paraphernalia shops currently need a license to operate within the Valley. Restricted by age, employees at licensed tobacco stores are required to be at least 18 years old. Per the new paraphernalia ordinance, only employees who are at least 21 years old may handle or sell marijuana-related paraphernalia.

The plethora of glass bubblers, beakers, spoons, and straight tubes will need to be displayed in such a way that individuals under the age of 21 are unable to view them from a public place, according to the measure’s text. Any such smoke shop shall have a sign clearly posted at each entrance, in letters not less than three inches tall, indicating that persons under the age of 21 are not permitted entry.

Las Vegas now has high-end dispensaries, legal weed, and head shops. Now all they need are marijuana lounges to allow the annual hordes of 420-tourists a friendly place to smoke without breaking the law.
