Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to Lift Ban on Smoking Marijuana | Marijuana News

Despite not having much to say about marijuana on the campaign trail, Florida’s new Governor Ron DeSantis told reporters yesterday that he would be lifting the ban on smoking medical marijuana. After Floridians voted for a very permissive medical marijuana law in 2016, the state legislature came back with a very restrictive program that banned the smoking of marijuana flower and also forced Florida dispensaries, called MMTCs, to be vertically integrated. Two different court decisions last year ruled that the ban and the forced vertical integrations were unconstitutional. The Governor at the time, Rick Scott, appealed both of the decisions but Governor DeSantis is planning on pulling both of the appeals if lawmakers do no proactively change the law.
