First U.S. Cannabis Spa Hopes To Open In Colorado

Utopia All Natural Wellness Spa And Lounge Looks To Open Doors In Denver

The first U.S. cannabis spa is hoping to gain approval to operate in Denver, Colorado. The cannabis company, Utopia All Natural Wellness Spa and Lounge, has filed an application to allow for social consumption of marijuana based products within Denver’s Creswell Mansion.

Utopia All Natural Wellness Spa and Lounge submitted its application for a Denver Cannabis Consumption Establishment license on Wednesday for a spa in the Creswell Mansion, 1244 Grant St. It hopes to be among the first businesses approved for the first-of-its-kind social use program authorized by the city’s voter-approved Initiative 300.

If their application is approved, patrons will be able to legally consume cannabis and cannabis-related products while within the privacy of the city’s historic locale. This would make the spa the first of its kind here in the states and may open the floodgates for other similar establishments to follow suit.

The adults-only spa will feature two cannabis consumption areas in compliance with the Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act. One will be indoors where adults can consume edibles and vape, and one will be outdoors where adults can smoke marijuana flower in a ventilated area that is not visible to neighbors, she said.

According to their CEO, Cindy Sovine, the hope is that the spa will be a significant and positive part of the local community and openly invites them to visit the budding cannabis spa when and if their application is approved.

“We intend to be part of the culture of the neighborhood,” Sovine said. “We really are an open door policy, our spa business is public. We look forward to welcoming members of the community in and educating them on cannabis and how it’s used.”
