Greta Carter is the founder of The Cannabis Training Institute, located near Seattle Washington. They offer vast curriculums in the exploding cannabis industry, offering a “certification on a national level for a core curriculum of courses that everyone should take, whether you’re a patient or whether you’re a business. And it happens to be, the same core curriculum that was mandated by Washington D.C. which is the only, legislative mandate that currently exists for classes related to cannabis.” Explains Greta.

Greta had a long and illustrious career previous to CTI, as the Vice President of Citi-Bank for 18 years.

She brings a much-needed sense of professionalism to the industry as marijuana reform reached new mainstream platforms.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Greta’s new career is the 3,500 lbs or marijuana that she grows each year on a 2,100 sq/ft farm…. legally.

Greta explains, “Yeah. (laughs) I know, all thirty-five hundred, I can’t believe it. We acquired a parcel of land about two and a half hours outside Seattle, and we’re putting up, uh, sophisticated greenhouses that will allow us to be able to be responsible to the environment by, um, utilizing the sun, but still ensuring the quality of our product by controlling components of the environment like the rain, heat, and humidity.”

Greta has a valid sense of knowledge and passion for marijuana reform, “My passion has always been about ending the broken war on, on drugs and the safety around it, but I do have to tell you a quick funny story. I had my 95 year-old mom from South Dakota see me on a CNN, broadcast and she calls me up and makes a comment to me: she says, “Honey, you’re not doing anything with that P-O-T, are ya?” (laughter) So, yeah we’ve had our challenges. I never would’ve thought I’d be here growing 3500 lbs. of, of cannabis that’s for sure. ”

BRUCE KELLY: Greta Carter is the Founder and Chairman of the Cannabis Training Institute here on the National Marijuana News. The Cannabis Institute currently offers classes in business, legal and medical areas. What specific courses do you offer, and are there plans to expand that curriculum?

GRETA CARTER: Thank you. We actually offer certification on a national level for a core curriculum of courses that everyone should take, whether you’re a patient or whether you’re a business. And it happens to be, uh, the same core curriculum that was mandated by, uh, Washington D.C. that um, and it’s the only, only, legislative mandate that currently exists for classes. So that should tell you the credibility and the, um, the content, is-is significant there. And um, in addition to that, we are on a path to accreditation. We don’t upsell, we don’t cross-sell. We don’t, um, look to try to bait-and-switch you on our services. It’s all about education for me. We have about, um, 18 courses that, um, are currently available, with the, uh, short-term goal of getting up to 200 by the end of, um, next year.

BRUCE KELLY: How are you able to grow 3,500 lbs. of marijuana on a 2100 square foot outdoor farm? That’s the big question. How, how do you do it?

GRETA CARTER: Yeah. (laughs) I know, all thirty-five hundred, I can’t believe it. Um, we uh, acquired, um, a parcel of land about two and a half hours outside Seattle, and we’re putting up, uh, sophisticated greenhouses that will allow us to be able to be responsible to the environment by, um, utilizing the sun, but still ensuring the quality of our product by controlling components of the environment like the rain, and, uh, heat, and, uh, humidity. So, yeah.

BRUCE KELLY: How many students do you have? And, uh, is your business and your enrollment increasing?

GRETA CARTER: Oh my gosh, yeah, I’m totally excited. We just launched in November, and we are, um, in the process of, uh, securing a national, um, certification program that allows us to have trainers in every one of the cannabis states out there. So some of those trainers, once they’ve been certified through us, will actually utilize our courses to give stand-up classrooms. We have, um, done about, uh, ten times what we did the previous month. So growing fairly rapidly. We have, um, uh, students that are logging in internationally to our courses, and, um, it’s just, uh, the demand is huge. It’s like trying to feed a starving country.

BRUCE KELLY: (laughs) Well I can tell your excitement, and, uh, for you coming from Citibank, to growing all that marijuana, has gotta make your head spin. But also the movement, and the speed at which its traveling across the United States, you just might, I wouldn’t say be in shock, but you must be amazed.

GRETA CARTER: Oh my gosh, my, um, passion has always been about ending the broken war on, on drugs and the safety around it. Um, but I do have to tell you a quick funny story. I had my 95 year-old mom from South Dakota see me on a CNN, um, broadcast and, uh, she calls me up and makes a comment to me: she says, “Honey, you’re not doing anything with that P-O-T, are ya?” (laughter) So, yeah we’ve had our challenges. I never would’ve thought I’d be here growing 3500 lbs. of, of cannabis that’s for sure.

BRUCE KELLY: Congratulations on your success. I’m sure we’ll be checking in with you, uh, very soon to take you up on monitoring that, uh, that progress. And, uh, you seem like a very happy lady in what’s going on, that’s really cool, that’s neat.

GRETA CARTER: Thank-thank you. And thank you for getting the responsible facts out there on the industry. Greatly appreciate it.
