Afroman Re-Records His 14 yr Old Hit, “Because I Got High” for Weedmaps and NORML

14 years ago Afroman’s “Because I Got High” was a very popular single on the charts. Slightly before its time, the comedic tone of the song called out the over publicized negative aspects of being an everyday cannabis user, “I was gonna go to work, but then i got high”…..”I was gonna pay my child support, but the i got high”

Recently, Afroman partnered with Weedmaps and Normal to remake this legendary staple of new marijuana-culture as a more positive and politically oriented version of the song. The new “Positive” remix of the song includes political, medical, and social reform concepts as supported by NORML and Weedmaps.

Below is the music video that was created to support a number of socially responsible endeavors on the marijuana industry. This new version paints a positive and hopeful future for the ongoing national reform of marijuana in America

Below is the Original Song – “Because I got High” (2000) where you can see Jay and Silent Bob featured in the video that comedically seems to stereotype “stoners”.
