To nobody’s surprise, Rolling Stones legend Keith Richards recently admitted that he still starts his day with a joint, even at age 71.
Richards told MOJO Magazine: “I smoke regularly, an early morning joint. Strictly Californian.” He also supports the legalization of marijuana in America, saying, “One of the most pleasant things to watch is a map of America showing states where cannabis is legal , where it goes, green… green… green. Whether it’s a good thing in the long run, I don’t know.”
The only startling thing about the recent comments were that five years ago, Keith claimed he had “given up everything” after a lifetime spent taking drugs. He quit heroin in 1978 after his fifth arrest and cocaine in 2006 after he fell from a tree in Fiji and needed brain surgery. As for alcohol, he told MOJO, “I like to keep my hand in Other than that, I’m pretty straight.”
Still, Richards admitted in his autobiography “Life” that he believes the secret to his longevity is because the drugs he took were high quality.
